Our History
PLAN of PA — or Planned Lifetime Assistance Network of Pennsylvania — was founded in 1989 by a group of families who each had a mentally disabled family member, and our Board of Directors still includes many members who have a connection to a loved one with a mental difference.
PLAN’s mission is to provide support to caregivers of an adult with mental illness, autism, intellectual disability or brain injury in the five-county Greater Philadelphia area through three key services: Care Management, Special Needs Trust and Budget & Bill Paying. We serve the five counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia.
Our goal is to continue the care when the family cannot manage alone or can no longer act as caretaker, providing critical services not provided by public benefit programs.
PLAN is a member of the National PLAN Alliance, a coalition of PLAN organizations in 21 states. We are also professional members of area Estate Planning Councils as well as various disability support and advocacy organizations, including the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) and ASCEND, the Asperger and Autism Alliance for Greater Philadelphia.
