CORONA VIRUS UPDATE

During the unfolding pandemic, PLAN of PA continues to diligently and compassionately serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Our team has shifted some of the ways we fulfill our mission, but we continue our focus on helping individuals we support to live a happier, healthier, more meaningful life. Our Care Management and Trust Services team members have continuously provided our core services in this “new normal” of social distancing and virtual support. In addition, we are offering the following pandemic specific support:

  • Checking in with those who are isolated to provide connection and reassurance.

  • Educating on facts as they are discovered in regards to the virus including tips to avoid spread and ways maintain ones health & safety.

  • Facilitating self-care, anxiety reduction, and coping mechanisms.

  • Monitoring physical and mental health for signs of distress.

  • Providing fiduciary guidance, trust planning and support in these volatile times.

  • Planning logistics in advance, to ensure client access to food, money, and prescriptions, via delivery options when possible.

  • Working with healthcare providers to prioritize needed care vs unnecessary risk.

While we are grateful to be present through this difficult time, it has been challenging. We have increased costs as we learn to provide services from a distance alongside decreased revenue due to the pandemic realities. Specifically, we have been impacted in these ways:

  • Social distancing has required an abrupt decrease in person to person visits, which contribute to our sustainability.

  • The closure of many doctors’ offices, government agencies and public places has suspended some of the work we can carry out at this time.

  • Work from home set up costs such as hardware, software and creating new communication systems and pathways.

Part of PLAN of PA’s mission is to reliably be there for the people we support when their families can no longer be there for them. We believe that means coming through this pandemic as a healthy and sustainable organization. We have every confidence we will see this through. Your continued support assists us to serve when many have had to shut down. Your gift reminds us we are not alone as we support those with developmental disabilities, mental illness and physical challenges. Please consider your gift of support to assist us in continuing our mission now and beyond this challenging time. Thank you for championing PLAN of PA!
