HISTORY

In 1989, a group of families created Planned Lifetime Assistance Network of Pennsylvania, also known as PLAN of PA. They gathered in living rooms and around kitchen tables to talk about their hopes, challenges and fears. Together they created a social services organization with deep roots in financial expertise to assure their adult child’s wellbeing.

In 1989 they achieved their goal and PLAN of PA was incorporated as a 501c3 organization who serves as the fiduciary of a Special Need Trust and provides Care Management services. Through these integrated services PLAN of PA assists families and their loved one by securing public benefits and decent housing; promoting health and wellness; managing finances; and combating isolation by fostering good relationships. We assist people in obtaining employment, pursuing an education and find roles to meaningfully volunteer. We assist families in future planning and building a network of professional and personal supports. We also offer Family Programs free of charge including a monthly support group, workshops on future planning, guest speakers and family friendly social events to combat isolation and build community. With PLAN of PA serving as a Corporate Trustee, Representative Payee and/or advocating for social supports, families are able to have deeper and more meaningful relationships with one another.

PLAN of PA services result in peace of mind for families and people with behavioral health diagnoses and intellectual or physical disabilities. We provide short-term, intermittent, and life-long support; working together to assist people in building more meaningful lives.
